Join Texas Is Ready for a webinar with Laura Zelaya, LCSW, for an introduction to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and how it may present in students and young people. The session will explore how OCD can overlap with or differ from other conditions, how to respond when symptoms arise, and when additional support may be needed.

Laura Zelaya, LCSW, is a therapist and founder of Cántaro Therapy Services who specializes in ADHD, OCD, trauma, and other co-occurring conditions. Her clinical work focuses on individualized care while recognizing how identity, lived experiences, and larger societal systems can affect mental well-being. Her background also includes extensive work with caregivers, survivors of violence, and children with disabilities and communication disorders.

During this webinar, Laura will introduce participants to OCD and explore how it may differ from conditions that can present similarly, including generalized anxiety, ADHD, and autism. Participants will learn about common, well-intentioned reactions that can unintentionally maintain OCD symptoms and evidence-informed strategies for responding in the moment.

The session will also cover when it may be appropriate to refer a student for specialized care, ways to begin that conversation with caregivers, and resources for continuing to build understanding of OCD and supporting students and their families.

The event is free. Continuing education credits, including SW, CPE, LPC, and CHW Uncertified, are available only to those who participate in the live event.
