SAN ANTONIO (October 21, 2024) – Healthy Futures of Texas’ Annual San Antonio Luncheon, first held in 2010, was created to engage San Antonio civic, business, and philanthropic leaders in raising awareness of sexual health and in promoting positive outcomes for Texas youth and women. The fun and vibrant event honors community leaders for their dedication to youth and the community. The event will be held on Wednesday, October 23 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Petroleum Club of San Antonio.
Healthy Futures of Texas (HFTX), a statewide nonpartisan nonprofit working to improve the well-being of young Texans through equitable access to sexual health education and resources, announces Founder and CEO of UT Teen Health Dr. Kristen Plastino as the recipient of its “Trailblazer Award,” and Live the Life Church as the honoree of its “Community Service Award.”

The Trailblazer Award celebrates the groundbreaking work of Dr. Kristen Plastino, professor and vice chair for clinical operations and founder and CEO of UT Teen Health. The award honors individuals who provide visionary leadership, exceptional guidance, and serve as an inspiration to others. Through this award, Healthy Futures of Texas recognizes those who empower our community to make a meaningful impact on Texas youth, women, and families.

Together, UT Teen Health and Healthy Futures of Texas have dramatically reduced teen pregnancies in San Antonio since 2013, including through their implementation of federal grant-funded evidence-based programs. UT Teen Health is an initiative of UT Health San Antonio that promotes adolescent health and wellness.
Community Service Award Honoree: Live the Life Church
The Healthy Futures of Texas Community Service Award recognizes an individual or organization who has demonstrated selfless dedication and unwavering commitment to improving our community. Through tireless efforts, compassion, and a collaborative spirit, they have empowered their community to achieve better health, stronger families, and brighter futures.
