Welcome to the Bill Game, an engaging dice game that was developed by Healthy Futures of Texas to teach young people how a bill becomes a law in Texas.

 

Each player takes the part of a bill that is moving through the legislative process. But it won’t be easy, because the system is designed to kill bills! Throughout the game, players will learn about the Texas Legislature and the political process.

To play the game, you will need the following items: 

  • 20-sided dice: We recommend having one die for each player, or players can share dice. You can also use a dice app, but it’s more fun and engaging to roll physical dice. 20-sided dice are available online in bulk for about 25 to 50 cents each. 
  • Game tokens: Each player will need a game token, such as a coin, bean, or any small object.  
  • The Bill Game slide deck and projector: Canva slide deck or PDF. We recommend using the Canva slide deck in order to take advantage of slide deck animations, but the PDF works too! The Canva deck is set to be viewable by anyone with the link, without having to create an account. 
  • Game Board: Print one copy for each player. Download here. 
  • Bill Cards: The download contains 24 bill cards. You should have one bill card for each player. If you have more than 24 players, you can print multiple sets of cards. Download here.
